When it comes to mixing powders, granules, or additives in industries like food, chemicals, or feed production, a horizontal ribbon blender is a widely trusted machine. At Karvil Machinery, we have spent over 20 years perfecting this equipment to meet various production needs—from small labs to full-scale automated lines.

What Is a Ribbon Blender?

A ribbon blender is a horizontal mixing machine with a U-shaped chamber and a set of spiral ribbons welded on a central shaft. These ribbons move material in two directions at the same time, promoting uniform mixing.

Unlike high-speed mixers, a ribbon blender operates gently, making it especially suitable for materials that should not be broken or overheated—such as sugar, sweeteners, starch, vitamins, or powdered food coloring.

Working Principle

The operation is straightforward but efficient. As the motor drives the shaft, the outer ribbon pushes the material toward the center, while the inner ribbon pushes it toward both ends. This reverse movement helps to eliminate unmixed “dead spots” and ensures that all ingredients are fully blended, even when the mixing ratio is as low as 1:1000 .

Karvil’s  ribbon blenders are often equipped with:

  • Stainless steel contact parts (SS304 or SS316L)

  • Pneumatic valves for quick and clean discharge

  • Optional spray nozzles for adding small amounts of liquid

  • Spiral conveyors for automatic feeding

  • Dust-proof covers with inspection ports

For example, our 500L ribbon mixer delivered to Colombia is used to blend sugar, flavorings, and coloring agents. The machine is built with food-grade stainless steel and is connected to a screw conveyor for continuous feeding.

Key Advantages of karvil ribbon blenders
